I am a tamil from south india. I have been monitoring the Sri Lankan situation for years now and I can say a few things as a representative of thousands of tamils who are dead opposed to the LTTE (like me, not all tamils approve of this ealam nonsense).

1) Whatever sympathy the Sri Lankans had eroded considerably after Rajiv Gandhi's assasination.

2) I believe, and do want to believe, that this full scale final war had all of India's backing.

3) A terror outfit from a neighboring country blows up a former prime minister and india remained quite for 20 years. Would the USA have remained quiet for this long if one of its former leaders get killed by a group from a neighboring country?

4) The LTTE did more harm to the tamils than anyone else.

5) Some of the tamilians here in south india can't think straight. They are completely driven by emotions and by political rtheoric. I was ashamed of some immolations in the name of tamil ealam. I can't recall any incident involving a sri lankan tamil setting himself on fire!

6) Most of the sri lankan tamils i have dealt with are visicious people. They never ever saw Indian tamils as their 'brothers'. Only tamils here claimed that.

7) Do remember that Prabhakaran joined forces with Premadasa and fought the indian army. Then he killed both Rajiv and Premadasa. How much more viscious one can get?

8) I am glad this psychopath is killed and dead finally. I am not sure if the rumors about his capture and torture were true, but even then I won't condone it. He had it coming for sending so many children and innocent people to death.

9) The future of tamils in Sri Lanka is better off with the sinhalese.

Now that all this nonsese is over, I am sure the sinhalese and tamils will start living together in peace and develop together.
Hey, its a beautiful country. Enough of this bloodshed.

All the very best to the people of Sri Lanka (including the tamils) in your future endevors. May God give you all eternal peace and happiness henceforth.

Yes, we can see what had happened to our famed general when he walks into ill-famed house in broad day light..
How can such a man of (known to be a) discipline engaged in this type of grave crimes like earning blood money using his limited power.
What will happen if he had more power (like he is going after now in search of Executive Presidency in Sri Lanka.
Dear citizen, we know very well the character of politicians in Sri Lanka but do we see better option with this General other than more corruption and dictatorship?
World has witnessed horrors and corruption like Samoza of Nicaragua, Pinoche of Chile, Batista of Cuba, Noreiga of Panama and never ending list of military leaders who become the head of states who were really the agents of CIA and powerful US business magnates.
Our General should learned from what had happened to Noreiga. Those powers are famous for using their selected agents and eventually give the jobs to CIA jackals or other.

On Federalism and industry in the US (obviously for comparative purposes here): I suspect that the latest compromise regarding state banking regulation points to the influence of large corporations on the Congress as a culprit in the on-going eclipse of federalism. I have just posted on this, in case you are interested.
