It is the blood of a ordinary Soldier that make a country great and proud !
They died for something that may be trivial to many. A piece of high ground on a salty sand dune, or a landing area in a landmine filled beach, or simply protecting a cadjan bunker in some remote corner of the island. But when dusk settles on this protracted war, every sacrifice these thousands made will have a reason and purpose.
“Fall to the ground, but They are not dead . The memories of them still lives in us, inspiring us to fight to the end.”
Major Ruwanjith is one such brave soldier who gave his life defending his motherland, and the life of soldiers like him inspired us to create this website.
Major Ruwanjith Kulapathi Maddumage
On January 23, around 5 in the evening just outside Muhamalai ,Jaffna, the areas newly liberated by the Kinihira 9 offensive , a landmine explosion took the life of Major Ruwanjith Kulapathi Maddumage. The Sri Lankan army lost an officer who had been decorated with the “Ranashura” medal and a sniper with exceptional skills.
Within a short time ,Ruwanjith traveled a long distance. He rose to the rank of captain six years. By 1998 he had earned the reputation of being a “long sniper”. He had started his military career as a second lieutenant in the 5th Gemunu regiment , after being trained at Diyatalawa and Pakistan. He passed the marksmanship course in 1997 and was adjudged the best sniper in the contingent in the following year. He was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant the same year and functioned as an instructor at Diyatalawa. Among his fellow servicemen he had won much respect as a brave an efficient officer. In the battle field he was well known for his sharp shooting skills.
He was involved in all major offensives since 1994. From “Riviresa” to Kinihira he discharged of services among the most trying conditions of combat with great dedication and distinction. His bravery and skill was rewarded with several medals, including the “North-East”, and “Riviresa” medals, the “Ranashura” medal for his role in the capture of Elephant pass, the “Deshaputra” medal and the “Purna Bhoomi” heroism awards.

Remember Them
If you are able, save for them a place inside of you and one backward glance when you are leaving, for the places they can no longer go.
Be not ashamed to say you loved them, though you may or may not always have.
Take what they have left and what they have taught you with their dying and keep it with your own.
And in that time when men decide and feel safe to call the war insane, take one moment to embrace those gentle heroes you left behind.”
We pay our tribute to all our fallen heroes who gave their today for our tomorrow.

I am a fair-complexioned Tamil Brahmin of Tamil Nadu. If you ask anti-Brahmin people of Tamil Nadu (like DK & DMK fellows), they will say that I am an “ARYAN”. In Tamil Nadu, Brahmins are called Aryans but Brahmins themselves hate their being called so. They want to be called Tamils. We speak Tamil at home & think in Tamil. The Tamil Brahmin community had produced great Tamil poets & scholars like Kapilar, Thirugnanasambandhar, Manikkavasakar, Sundaramoorthi Nayanar, Periyaazhwar, Nambiyaandar Nambi, Villiputhoor Azhwar, Subramania Bharatiar, U.Ve.Swaminatha Iyer, Ki.Va.Jagannathan, Na.Parthasarathi , Abhirama Bhattar & many more. 15% of SANGAM poets whose caste was known, were Brahmins.
